On September 7, 2024, I lost my loyal hunting partner and everyday companion, Trigger.

What I thought would be a short tribute — just a few lines to honor him — quickly became something much larger. Once I started writing, the memories and emotions poured out, and before I knew it, I told Jessica, “I think I wrote a book.”

I never set out to become an author, but sometimes life leads us in unexpected directions. What began as a simple remembrance grew into a collection of stories about loyalty, love, and the quiet ways a dog can shape a person’s life.

This book was written for my family and friends, and for anyone who ever crossed paths with Trigger. But as the pages came together, I realized it might also offer comfort to others who have experienced the loss of a beloved companion. Grief connects us, and sometimes another person’s story can make our own feel a little less heavy.
